Nick Deimeke’s AgVenture Gold Club winning field was a pleasant surprise this past season

Nick Deimeke’s AgVenture Gold Club winning field was a pleasant surprise this past season. Nick, alongside his father Kenny, and brother Matt, farm several thousand acres of corn, soybeans and winter wheat in Mexico, Missouri.

When Nick went out to plant this new piece of farmland they had added to their operation this past year, he knew he wanted to try out AgVenture brand AV9916AM because it was a good piece of ground. “I have customers that have had really good luck with this AgVenture hybrid.” When it came to harvest he was thrilled with the 234 bu/A yield average, a record yield for that farm. “When I told the landlord what it made this fall, he said that’s the best corn he’s ever seen on that piece of land,” Nick shared.

Their farm has been planting AgVenture seed for over 20 years and switched to 100% AgVenture seed in the last ten years. Nick explains that he likes the idea that both AgVenture and his independent seed company, Wehmeyer Seed are truly local. “With AgVenture we like that they control their seed quality. We’ve compared seed quality studies off and on and we know that we’re getting the best. We like the higher rates of seed treatment on AgVenture corn and that hybrids are picked for our area – they handle our wet fields and our hot temperatures.”

The local relationships have also been key to not only his own farm’s success but also to Nick’s customers. “Working with Wehmeyer, they feel like family, and they have been consistent. They even help my customers when they have questions or concerns – responding quickly to a text or call.”  Whether it be field plot days or impromptu winter lunches – Nick stressed the importance of building those relationships year-round.

As Nick looks to the next growing season he’s excited about the new AgVenture hybrid and varieties available. “It seems like this new class of AgVenture seed is really going to be something we can move forward with. The technology going into PowerCore® Enlist® and Enlist® traits seem to be bringing better plant health and then you know, better yield. It’s really kind of exciting.”

Being able to balance consistency with innovation has been one of those things that keeps Nick coming back to AgVenture year-over-year. Being surprised about a corn yield PR for a new piece of farmland is just added value. “We’ve grown a tremendous amount in the last 10 years and if AgVenture seed wasn’t working we wouldn’t be able to do that.”
